Kraft Among 8 Players Signed In Past 2 Days

The last 48 hours have been busy for the San Jose Sharks. The Barons NHL affiliate signed eight players including Ryan Kraft, the Barons leading scorer last season. Kraft reported to camp with the Sharks on Thursday along with fellow forwards Willie Levesque, Tavis Hansen, Scott Thomas, and Jeff Nelson. The Sharks also re-signed center Mark Smith, who spent last year with the Pacific Division winners. Defensively the Sharks stockpiled some talent including former Hobey Baker candidate Jim Fahey and free agent John Jakopin.

   Finally the Cleveland Barons and The San Jose Sharks are starting to prepare for the season. After losing Hannes Hyvonen, Andy Lundbohm,  Brandon Smith, Mike Craig, and Steve Bancroft  the team has gained some players for the 2002-2003. First they re-signed Ryan Kraft although the terms of the deal were not disclosed I believe that he'll be around for at least two years. There offence should improve a lot more will the new additions, hopefully they can sign a power defencemen. I would like to see Adam Nittel who was injured most of the 2001-2002 season with a knee problem that occured an exibition game be traded for a soild defence prospect. Vesa Toskala was a great goalie last year. If we get some soild defence to reduce his shots on goal he will excell and so will the Barons.
