SHARKS TRADE HANNES HYVONEN TO FLORIDA FOR FUTURE
CONSIDERATIONS
CLEVELAND - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today that the club has traded right wing Hannes Hyvonen (HAH-nuhs HOO-voh-nuhn) to the Florida Panthers in exchange for future considerations.
In 2001-02, his first
season in North America, Hyvonen, 26, posted 42 points, seventh-best on the
Barons, and 136 penalty minutes in 67 games. His 24 goals were the second most
among the Barons. In addition, Hyvonen appeared in six games with San Jose,
posting no points.
San Jose originally selected the six-foot-two, 200-pound native of Oulu, Finland
in the ninth round (157th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
